It is kinda funny how times changed and things run in cycles. When I was growing up, my mom refused to put chemicals in my hair (only natural styles). Now, natural hair is very much back in vogue. I have transition from chemicals (creamy crack) to healthier protective styles over the last few years. I also see my brides searching for hair styles, so I have pulled some pictures from my favorite Cover Girl Janelle Monae. I've met her super talented hair stylist and she even came into the salon when I was getting my hair done one day. Janelle is a very petite, gorgeous young lady with super style. I am fascinated by Anthony Elliott's (Anthony Cuts) skills with a blow dryer and hair brush. The videos can be found on Facebook and YouTube. He does it all, from makeup, coloring and anything related to beauty. Wow, I can only imagine picking up my phone and calling him for one of my clients or even me! As more African American women are transitioning to natural protective hair styles, it is great to have so many options.

Tracy Morgan is a married Man!

Tracy Morgan and Megan Wollover made it official - they are man and wife. Tracy has been through a lot after his terrific accident. I'm so glad to see that he is still recovering and he has someone who has definitely been by his side during the good and the bad. Congrats to the couple.

When it comes to wedding hair - different, unique, edgy come to mine. This is a day that calls for something special whether it is an updo, extension or braids and twists. Talk to your stylist and try different styles and don't be afraid to push the limits of your comfort zone. I love this look and I'm so glad the photographer took pictures of every angle from front to back.

Pearls are back! Pearl accessories such as a statement necklace, bracelet or headband can transform any woman from blah to wow.  A little known fact - the world's most expensive gown made in the 1950s was made with rare cultured pearls that took 15 years to collect and eight dressmakers two months to complete at a cost of $100,000. Wow!

I had a chance to take a break from wedding and party planning to hang out with my favorite Fashionista Kelly Monica of Kelly Monica Hair to preview Fall makeup trends and sip cocktails. The day started with hands on training and step by step instructions from celebrity makeup artist Cabrielle Brooks from Adamo Artistry. Yep, the day included lots fun, martinis and giggles.
