River Landing North Carolina - Wedding & Event Venue

River Landing was a beautiful event venue in North Carolina and I hope to return soon and planned a fabulous wedding or event. There were so many beautiful areas at River Landing to host a wedding or event along with plenty of on property sleeping rooms (cottages, suites) and a nearby hotel.

I was asked to be the keynote speaker at the Association of Bridal Consultants North Carolina state meeting. The weekend that I spent in North Carolina was a whirlwind filled with fellowship, new friendships and more. My topic was "The Competitive Edge" and I shared everything I knew about standing out in a crowd.

Sally Hansen - Wedding Polish

I had a hard time choosing my favorite from this Sally Hansen collection. Before I could try the pink Arm Candy, one of my brides grab the bottle and said this is what I've been looking for to wear on my wedding day - lol! So, that bottle disappeared before the eyes. Gail John Wedding - Studio Photos

I have been working on my studio since December and it is almost - yes, almost complete. I still haven't done the floors since I can't decide what color or finish - sigh. I put up a shelving and every weekend, I buy accessories, rearrange books and drive myself crazy. I'm heading to design school next week - something that I have always wanted to do but its time. I love design as much as I love weddings and events. Stay tuned for more office updates and design class tidbits.

Lady Lux - Are Wedding Showers Going out of Style?

Make sure you check out my thoughts regarding wedding showers on the LADYLUX site. Wedding showers will never go out of vogue but they are changing as with most wedding traditions. Brides have a new way of thinking of unique ways to set their events apart from the norm. 

Other brides-to-be are going out of town for destination getaways, said Gail Johnson, of Gail Johnson Weddings and Events in Decatur, Georgia.

“One reason is because more and more brides have bridal party members who live out of state. They are finding a common meeting point to gather and have more of a girl’s weekend versus a traditional finger sandwiches and garden party soiree. I’ve seen intimate pajama party at high-end boutique hotel or weekend scavenger hunt in Vegas to fun in the sun in Miami,” Johnson said.

Office Style

I've been busy styling my new studio space and can't wait for the grand reveal. Still have a few more things to do including floor paint, accessories and special touches. I look stripes (very evident from my last space) but decided to go BOLD - yes, it is a new year.  I picked Black/White stripes for the office area, my conference area is Metallics (gold, silver, cream and maybe some blush) and small Bubbly bar refreshment center.

I've watched Tami of Talking with Tami for years and have always admired her style and drive. There are few people in the industry that impress me and she is one. She speaks her mind and has a heart of gold.

Color – Greek Blue and Moody Indigo are the “it” colors for 2015
Metallic – Copper is trendy in fashion and design
China – China dinnerware will be a must-have for all events
Pastels – Muted pastels and neutrals will be paired with smoky grays, soft blacks and creamy white tones
Pattern linens – large-scale prints and loose geometric patterns are still on the rise
Mixing the old with the new is also a huge trend in 2015
