Office - Perfect Signature Piece

I'm starting a series on office decor (home or studio) starting with a WOW statement piece. I picked a statement piece for my office that would last a lifetime - a mirror credenza. The crendenza's main purpose was to provide storage since I didn't have a closet and needed a way to hide items. Also, if I decided to close my office, this piece would look great in my house and could easily be incorporated into my home decor.

The credenza has increased in value - I purchased my Borghese from Z Gallarie six years ago for $899, the same piece is now valued at $1299 on their website.

Decide on a statement piece that will work best for your space....chairs, table, bookcase, desk. Check out some of my favorites from Pottery Barn, Z Gallerie and World Market. Once you have a statement piece then you can start pulling in accessories as you build your perfect office space.

Gail John Wedding - Studio Photos

I have been working on my studio since December and it is almost - yes, almost complete. I still haven't done the floors since I can't decide what color or finish - sigh. I put up a shelving and every weekend, I buy accessories, rearrange books and drive myself crazy. I'm heading to design school next week - something that I have always wanted to do but its time. I love design as much as I love weddings and events. Stay tuned for more office updates and design class tidbits.

Check out the fab pics by the talented Jessica Hatter...office designed by me, featured on The Office Stylist website! This is the second time she has featured my studio - I am truly honored.

Office Style

I've been busy styling my new studio space and can't wait for the grand reveal. Still have a few more things to do including floor paint, accessories and special touches. I look stripes (very evident from my last space) but decided to go BOLD - yes, it is a new year.  I picked Black/White stripes for the office area, my conference area is Metallics (gold, silver, cream and maybe some blush) and small Bubbly bar refreshment center.

Here are some of my favorite things.

DIY Washi Tape Calendar

Well, well, well look what I found - a calendar made with washi tape. I can think of so many ways to use and make my own version of this calendar. I love Japanese washi tape, sticky notes and the creative process of design. Now, I just need to find a blank wall to create my masterpiece.
